Blumhouse Releases First Trailer for The Exorcist: Martyrs
Blumhouse released the first trailer for The Exorcist: Martyrs on October 9, offering a first look at Mike Flanagan’s new film in the horror franchise. The movie, starring Scarlett Johansson as homicide detective Julie Miller, is scheduled to open in theaters on March 12, 2027. The trailer was unveiled at New York Comic Con, according to reports of the event. The story follows Miller as she investigates a series of murders that point beyond an ordinary serial-killer case. The film’s premise combines a detective thriller with supernatural horror, and the trailer introduces the possibility that the violence is connected to a demonic force. Flanagan’s account of the plot describes Miller as having previously stopped a killer known as Father Sunday, played by John Leguizamo. A later investigation draws her back into the case. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Father William, a former prison chaplain, while Sasha Calle plays fellow detective Gina Restrepo. Laurence Fishburne also appears as a priest involved in the investigation. The cast includes Diane Lane, Jacobi Jupe and Scoot McNairy, among others.
