Searchlight Releases Trailer for Wild Horse Nine

Searchlight has released a new trailer for Wild Horse Nine, Martin McDonagh’s film about two CIA agents sent to Easter Island shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on November 6, according to the reports. The story follows agents Chris, played by John Malkovich, and Lee, played by Sam Rockwell, longtime partners dispatched from Santiago by their bureau chief, MJ, played by Steve Buscemi. The film’s official synopsis says their assignment unfolds among Easter Island’s statues as the pair confront their past and present conspiracies. Chris’s connection with two rebellious students, played by Mariana di Girolamo and Ailín Salas, threatens to derail the mission. The trailer presents the film as a dark comedy with political tension. Other cast members include Tom Waits and Parker Posey. McDonagh wrote and directed the film, with Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin and Anita Overland among its producers. The reports describe Wild Horse Nine as having screened at fall festivals, including Venice, Telluride and Toronto.
