SteelSeries unveils four Sensei Pro and Rival Pro mice

SteelSeries has introduced four wireless gaming mice under its Sensei Pro and Rival Pro lines, pairing the revived designs with UltraWideband connectivity, high polling rates and batteries that can be swapped while the spare charges. The models are scheduled to reach retail on October 13, after preorders opened September 29, at a US price of $179.99 each, according to company launch details. The lineup comprises the Sensei Pro and Sensei Pro Mini, which have symmetrical designs, and the right-handed Rival Pro and Rival Pro Mini. All four are offered in black and white. The full-size models weigh 53 grams, while the Mini versions weigh 49 grams. SteelSeries says the mice use UltraWideband, or UWB, across roughly 6.4 to 9.056 GHz instead of the 2.4 GHz band commonly used by wireless peripherals. The company claims UWB provides about 20 times the bandwidth of that conventional band and is intended to reduce interference. SteelSeries also advertises polling of up to 8,000 Hz, meaning the mouse can report its position up to 8,000 times per second. Whether players will consistently notice a practical advantage was not established in the available testing.
