Minecraft Dungeons 2 Launches With Connected World Design

Published 29 September 2026

Minecraft Dungeons 2 launched worldwide on September 29, bringing Mojang Studios and Double Eleven’s sequel to PC and current-generation consoles, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch systems. The game is also available on day one through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, according to launch reports. The sequel retains the original’s accessible, loot-focused combat and cooperative play for up to four people, but replaces its mission-based structure with a connected world of quests, dungeons and side paths. It also adds jumping, expanded equipment and character-build systems, and a new dimension called the Sift. The developers’ design shifts exploration and combat toward more vertical movement while broadening options for customizing characters. The game’s reception is still taking shape, with early reports reflecting different groups of reviewers. One account said Steam displayed a Mixed user rating at publication, with 48 percent positive from 760 reviews. It summarized player complaints about account linking, crashes and mouse-and-keyboard controls.
