Mojang Announces Minecraft Dimension The Sift for 2027

Mojang has announced The Sift, a new dimension planned for Minecraft’s Java and Bedrock editions in 2027, with players expected to encounter a version of it first in Minecraft Dungeons 2. The company has not specified a release date for the base-game addition or explained how players will access it. The announcement came during Minecraft Live on September 26. The Sift would be the fourth dimension in Minecraft, joining the Overworld, the Nether and The End. The End was added in 2011, making The Sift the game’s first new dimension in more than a decade. A brief preview showed a pink landscape beneath a turquoise sky and a rabbitlike creature. Mojang has said the dimension will bring new biomes, mobs and ways to play and explore, but has held back most details about the Java and Bedrock versions. The short glimpse does not establish what those editions will contain or how the dimension will work. Mojang’s announcement also said The Sift will appear in Minecraft Dungeons 2 before its planned arrival in the main game. The sequel is scheduled for release on September 29, 2026.
