Minecraft Dungeons II adds a new dimension and more gear
Minecraft Dungeons II expands the cooperative action role-playing game with a new dimension, more equipment and a larger world map, while keeping the accessible combat of its 2020 predecessor. Reviews published September 28 offered differing assessments of whether the added systems provide enough depth, based on limited play rather than broad player response. The sequel introduces the Sift, a vivid, dangerous realm that reviewers described as the game’s most notable addition. In the story, the Illager High Council seeks to use the dimension’s power, and players travel between it and the Overworld as they confront the threat. Reviewers said the Sift brings new creatures and environments to the Minecraft setting. The sources also describe it as the first new dimension added to the main Minecraft universe since The End, although they differ on whether that interval was 14 or 15 years. The game moves away from the first title’s sequence of individual levels to a larger, semi-open map with quests, dungeons, secrets and fast-travel points. Reviewers said the layout still guides players along defined routes in many areas, but offers more room to explore.
