The Witcher 3 Remastered launches as a free upgrade

CD Projekt Red released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on September 29, giving existing owners a free upgrade on supported platforms and adding extensive visual, gameplay and quality-of-life changes to the 2015 role-playing game. The update is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Owners of the original Nintendo Switch version can claim the native Switch 2 edition at no charge, according to launch information. The update revises lighting, shading, textures and foliage, and adds rendering options including ray tracing and path tracing on PC. Changes to play include a redesigned skill system, adjustments to combat and movement, and revised behavior for some monsters. The interface and quest tracking have also been updated, and Photo Mode has new options. Players’ skill points are reset the first time they load the updated game, according to reports describing the patch notes. CD Projekt Red said the base game and its two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, would become part of the standard version.
