Porzingis Denies HIV, Remains Out Indefinitely

Published 15 October 2026

Golden State Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis said he is improving while working with doctors, and denied having HIV or AIDS as the team confirmed he will remain out indefinitely because of an unspecified health matter. Porzingis addressed his condition in posts on X on Wednesday, saying he was trying to regain full health and needed to remain patient. He described his health problems as difficult to pinpoint and said he was frustrated by them, alongside injuries during his career. He did not identify his current condition or say when he might return to play. The Warriors said Porzingis missed training camp and the team’s first five preseason games because of a health matter. He returned to the practice facility and met with general manager Mike Dunleavy and vice president of player health and performance Rick Celebrini, the team said. Porzingis will remain out indefinitely and around the team. Golden State said it would provide an update on his status, including the possibility of resuming practice and a playing timeline, when available and appropriate. His denial followed online speculation about the cause of his absence.
