Clippers say Max Strus will miss at least four weeks

Published 6 October 2026

The Los Angeles Clippers said Max Strus will be out for at least four weeks after a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot, an injury that is expected to sideline him for the start of the regular season. The team announced the diagnosis and absence on Monday, October 5, after Strus was hurt in a preseason game against the Golden State Warriors in Honolulu. The injury occurred in the first quarter, about five minutes into the game. Strus caught a pass and began limping without contact from another player, according to game accounts. He left after the Clippers called a timeout. Los Angeles won the preseason game 104-101. Strus will be reevaluated in four weeks, according to reports of the team update and a team sideline reporter. That marks an assessment point, not a confirmed return date. The Clippers open the regular season on October 21 against the Sacramento Kings, so Strus is expected to miss the opener. One report places the four-week checkpoint on November 2, but no clearance to resume play has been announced. The 30-year-old joined Los Angeles from Cleveland in an August multiteam trade.
