Stephen Curry Reaffirms Commitment to Warriors, Rejects Free Agency

Stephen Curry has publicly stated his intention to remain with the Golden State Warriors for the remainder of his career, rejecting the idea of exploring free agency. The 38-year-old guard, who is entering the final year of his contract, made the comments during an appearance on CNBC's Squawk on the Street. "Not at all," Curry responded when asked if a free-agency process like the one LeBron James recently completed appealed to him. "I've always stated that I wanna be a lifer with Golden State. What we've built there, the fact that I get to run it back this year with Draymond and Coach Kerr." Curry's remarks come after James left the Los Angeles Lakers and signed with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason. The Warriors superstar emphasized his commitment to the franchise where he has spent his entire NBA career since being drafted seventh overall in 2009. The timing is significant as Curry is eligible to sign a two-year maximum contract extension worth approximately $136.7 million. Such an agreement would keep him under contract through the 2028-29 season, when he would be 41 years old. Without an extension, Curry would become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
