The Witcher 3 Remastered launches as a free upgrade

CD Projekt Red released a free remastered update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on September 29, 2026, adding visual and gameplay changes for existing owners on supported platforms. The update is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with a separate native Switch 2 version. Owners of the original Nintendo Switch version can claim the Switch 2 edition for free, according to launch-day information. The update revises lighting, shading, textures and foliage, and adds rendering options. Gameplay changes include a redesigned skill system, combat and movement adjustments, and changes to some monsters’ behavior. Players’ skill points are reset the first time they load the updated game, according to the patch notes described in reports. The interface and quest tracking have also been updated, and the expanded Photo Mode includes additional options. CD Projekt Red said the base game and both expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, would become part of the standard version. Reports say the expansions are included for eligible owners, though upgrade arrangements vary by platform and existing copy.
