Nintendo Opens Preorders for Zelda Ocarina of Time Controller
Nintendo has opened preorders for a licensed Electric Ocarina of Time accessory, a controller designed for use with the upcoming Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The device is priced at $49.99 and is scheduled to launch on November 5, 2026, the same day as the game's release. The accessory is manufactured by HORI and is intended to work with the game's sound recognition feature. When a song is played on the controller, the Nintendo Switch 2 system picks up the sound and triggers the corresponding in-game action. It offers two play modes: Free Play, where users can play notes and melodies freely, and AutoPlay, which can perform 12 in-game songs with the press of a button. It is important to note that the Electric Ocarina is not a real musical instrument. It is a controller with buttons that emulate playing notes, and it does not require blowing into it. The device includes a built-in volume control dial and a headphone jack for connecting headphones or an external speaker. As of the reporting, preorders are only confirmed to be available through the US Nintendo Store. In the UK, the accessory is listed at Smyths for £44.
