Soderbergh to Help Finish The Batman Part II Shoot

Published 15 October 2026

Steven Soderbergh will help Matt Reeves complete the final weeks of principal photography on The Batman Part II while Reeves attends to a family matter, DC Studios said. The studio said the two filmmakers will work with the cast and crew to carry out Reeves’s vision for the film. The arrangement follows a production pause reported while Reeves was away. Soderbergh is stepping in for the remaining photography, rather than replacing Reeves as the film’s director, according to the studio’s description. Reeves is expected to return for postproduction when he is ready. Soderbergh said he would work with Reeves and his team to create footage that fits with material already filmed. The studio said the pair would stay in close contact and collaborate with the actors and crew during the remaining shoot. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on February 18, 2028. It was not yet clear whether the production stoppage would affect that date, according to reporting on the pause. The release date remains the announced schedule; the available information does not establish whether it will change. Filming had been underway in London before the pause, according to reports.
