DC Studios Pauses The Batman Part II Production

Published 5 October 2026

DC Studios has temporarily paused production on The Batman Part II while director Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter, the studio said Monday. Filming had been underway in London, and reports place the production there before the pause. The studio said Reeves has its full support and that it looks forward to continuing the project, but did not say when work would resume. The pause’s duration is unknown, as is whether it will affect the film’s scheduled release date of February 18, 2028. The sequel’s release has already been moved from earlier dates, though the sources do not establish whether the current pause will prompt another change. No replacement director or other change to the project was announced. The film stars Robert Pattinson, returning as Bruce Wayne, and brings back Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell, among others. New cast members include Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham and Sebastian Koch. The studio did not provide details about the family matter, and the available information does not indicate when Reeves might return.
