Warner Bros. leaders contact Robbie over Barbie sequel

Published 4 October 2026

Incoming Warner Bros. film chiefs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein have contacted Margot Robbie and her LuckyChap partners as the studio’s new leadership seeks to revive efforts to make a Barbie sequel. The outreach signals renewed activity, but no sequel has been approved and no agreements with the returning creative team have been reported. The effort comes as Warner Bros. prepares to come under Skydance leadership. A source cited in earlier reporting said work was underway to secure another Barbie movie and predicted that a sequel would happen. That prediction is not confirmation of a deal. The latest reports describe contact with Robbie and LuckyChap but do not establish how negotiations with Robbie, director Greta Gerwig, Ryan Gosling or co-writer Noah Baumbach have progressed. The proposed follow-up has been held up by unresolved compensation discussions, according to reports. The returning team’s original contracts did not require them to make another film. Earlier reporting said negotiations involved upfront salaries and a share of the film’s earnings, and that the studio and the creative team had not reached an agreement.
