Gunn and Safran Expected to Stay at DC Studios

Published 3 October 2026

James Gunn and Peter Safran are expected to continue leading DC Studios under the combined Skydance company, according to reports about the planned management structure. Their roles have not been formally confirmed, and the accounts do not establish who they would report to. The reports say Gunn and Safran met with Skydance co-CEO David Ellison and that the meeting went well. A separate account said the pair would be invited to remain at DC, at least initially. Paramount did not confirm or comment on that report, and no official appointment or statement on their final terms was provided. The leadership planning described in the reports places Paramount Pictures co-chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein in oversight of the combined film units, including those at Warner Bros. It remains unclear how that arrangement would apply specifically to DC Studios or whether Gunn and Safran would have a direct reporting line to Ellison. The reporting also said Warner Bros. co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy were not expected to be part of the combined company’s management team. Whether they would remain temporarily during a transition was described as uncertain.
