The Batman Part II production temporarily paused

Published 13 October 2026

Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while director Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter, DC Studios said. Star Robert Pattinson said the team was pausing “for a little bit” and would work out what happens next. The studio said Reeves has its full support and that it looks forward to continuing the film. It has not provided further details about the family matter. The reported pause is temporary; neither Pattinson’s remarks nor the studio’s statement specified when filming would resume. The movie remains scheduled for release on February 18, 2028. DC Studios has said it is too early to determine whether the production pause will affect that date, so the current schedule does not confirm that the pause will leave it unchanged. Pattinson made his comments in an interview with Official Pop Drop while promoting Primetime. He is returning as Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, in the follow-up to the 2022 film The Batman, which Reeves directed. Reeves is directing and writing the sequel. The sources describe filming as underway in London since June, but provide no new production timetable following the pause.
