Parsons Says Daniels’ Mistake Could Cost Quinn His Job
Green Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons criticized Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels for the late-game sequence that left Washington tied 27-27 with the New York Giants, saying Daniels’s mistake could cost head coach Dan Quinn his job. Parsons’s prediction was an opinion; Washington had not announced a coaching change as of Tuesday, October 13. On his podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons, Parsons said Daniels should not have taken a sack with 14 seconds left and no timeouts. He also faulted the quarterback for not moving urgently after the play, arguing that a third-year player who had appeared in major games should recognize the situation. The tie followed a late overtime sequence in which Washington failed to get another play off before time expired. The Commanders had an opportunity to attempt a potential game-winning field goal, but the clock ran down after Daniels was sacked. Washington and New York finished 27-27. Parsons said NFL players regularly practice end-of-game situations and described the breakdown as a failure of preparation and urgency. He said he was a fan of Daniels while maintaining that the quarterback’s actions were unacceptable.
