Commanders Rule Jayden Daniels Out Against Colts
The Washington Commanders ruled quarterback Jayden Daniels out of Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts in London, with coach Dan Quinn confirming Friday that Marcus Mariota will make his second consecutive start. Daniels will miss a second straight game after dislocating his left elbow in Week 2. Daniels returned to limited practice this week after sitting out the previous week. He worked in a brace on his left arm, which he said prevents him from fully extending it. Daniels told reporters that basic quarterback movements, including taking snaps and handing off, had not been a problem. He has described his recovery as day by day. Quinn said Washington would reassess Daniels next week after he has had a full week of practice. The team has not announced a return date. Daniels’ availability for Washington’s next game against the New York Giants remains uncertain. Mariota is expected to start against Indianapolis after leading Washington to a 33-31 victory over Seattle last Sunday. He completed 19 of 31 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns in that game. He also entered in relief of Daniels during the team’s Week 2 loss to Dallas.
