Daniels Returns to Limited Practice, Status Unsettled

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels returned to limited practice work in London on Wednesday as he recovers from a dislocated left elbow, but the team had not determined whether he would play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Coach Dan Quinn said Washington would assess Daniels’ workload through the week and make a decision by Friday. Daniels took part in a jog-through practice, which Quinn said would count as limited participation on the team’s injury report. Quinn described the return to the field as a positive step but stressed that the team would not play Daniels before he was ready. His Wednesday comments did not establish that he had been cleared for game action. Daniels injured his left elbow in Washington’s Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys and missed the team’s Week 3 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He traveled with the Commanders to London for their Week 4 matchup. Video shared during the week showed him throwing while wearing a brace on his left arm, though throwing in practice does not by itself indicate he will be available Sunday. Marcus Mariota started in Daniels’ absence against Seattle.
