Jones says Cowboys lack answers after late loss to Ravens

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team had no satisfactory explanation for its late-game mistakes in a 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and was evaluating how to avoid repeating them. Baltimore won on Tyler Loop’s 56-yard field goal as time expired, after a late sequence put the Ravens in position for the kick. Jones made the comments on his radio show after Dallas let a chance to take the lead slip away in the final seconds. The Cowboys trailed 31-28 before a pass-interference penalty gave them first-and-goal at Baltimore’s 2-yard line with 23 seconds remaining. Dak Prescott’s first-down pass was incomplete, and a false-start penalty pushed Dallas back. After Prescott ran for two yards, coach Brian Schottenheimer used the Cowboys’ final timeout with 14 seconds left. Schottenheimer later said he probably overcoached Prescott by telling him to throw to receiver George Pickens or throw the ball away, given the time remaining. Prescott threw the ball away, and Brandon Aubrey’s field goal tied the game. The tie lasted only moments. With seven seconds left, Lamar Jackson completed a 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers, and Baltimore used a timeout with one second remaining.
