Lucian Piane, Drag Race Music Producer, Dies at 46

Lucian Piane, the composer and music producer known for his work on RuPaul’s Drag Race, died at 46 on October 12, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records cited in reports. The records describe the location of death as a street in Glendale, California, but the supplied information does not establish an official cause of death. Law-enforcement officials told TMZ that Piane was struck by a vehicle in Glendale and died from his injuries. That account has been relayed in reports, but no medical examiner finding confirming the cause is provided. The distinction leaves the reported circumstances attributed to officials rather than established by an official cause-of-death determination. Piane worked on music for the early seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, including compositions and productions for the show’s musical challenges. His credits included the Rusical numbers Shade The Rusical and The Baddest Bitches in Herstory, as well as songs he co-wrote or produced with RuPaul, including Cover Girl, Sissy That Walk, Jealous of My Boogie and Champion. Reports also credit him with work on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. His work extended beyond the series.
