Power Trip Releases First New Music Since Riley Gale’s Death
Power Trip has released “Precinct 3” and “Scavenger,” its first new music since vocalist Riley Gale died in 2020. The double single features Seth Gilmore, who joined the band after Gale’s death, on vocals. The band says its next full-length album is expected in spring 2027, but has not announced a confirmed release date. The tracks were recorded at Empire Sound in Carrollton, Texas. Jacob Hansen produced the recordings, with guitarist Blake Ibanez credited as co-producer. The songs are the band’s first new releases since its 2017 album, “Nightmare Logic.” Ibanez said the band considered what Gale might have wanted to write about while developing “Precinct 3,” describing that approach as a way to honor him. Gilmore said “Scavenger” addresses people who gain a sense of importance through association and then misuse that influence. The two songs are expected to appear on the forthcoming album, according to reports of the band’s plans. The release marks a new recording chapter for the Dallas band following its return to live performances with Gilmore. Power Trip resumed playing shows in 2023 and continued touring as it worked on new material.
