Jac Schaeffer to Develop New Stargate Series for Amazon MGM

Jac Schaeffer is developing a new Stargate television series for Amazon MGM Studios, marking a fresh effort to revive the science-fiction franchise after an earlier project led by Martin Gero did not move forward. The project is being developed under Schaeffer’s overall deal with Amazon MGM, according to reports based on information from people familiar with it. A writers’ room is expected to begin work soon, but the series remains in early development. No plot or cast details have been reported, and development does not confirm that the project will enter production. Schaeffer, who created WandaVision and its spinoff Agatha All Along, will executive produce alongside Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures. Representatives for Amazon MGM and Schaeffer declined to comment, according to one account. The new project follows a separate Stargate series developed by Gero, a writer and producer with prior experience on the franchise. That version was reported to have been dropped before production.
