Another World actor Mark Mortimer dies at 59

Published 6 October 2026

Actor Mark Mortimer, best known for playing Nick Hudson on the soap opera Another World, died September 23 at age 59, according to a family-written obituary. The obituary said he died after a battle with cancer and was surrounded by loved ones. The reports do not cite medical records or a separate medical authority establishing a specific cause of death. Mortimer was diagnosed with cancer in 2024, the obituary said. During his illness, he and his wife, Christie, created the Integrative Access Foundation to help people with cancer afford integrative therapies. The family account described the foundation as growing out of their own experience with the disease. Mortimer played Nick Hudson on Another World from 1996 to 1999, appearing in 81 episodes, according to career accounts. He was the third actor to portray the character. The NBC soap opera ended in 1999 after a 35-year run. He also appeared in a 1999 episode of Spin City. His final acting credit was the 2005 film The Nowhere Man. Mortimer later pursued work in construction and helped establish Inside Out Construction, according to accounts of his career.
