India Ends Asian Games With 85 Medals, 21 Golds
India ended the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya with 85 medals, including 21 golds, after a late run of victories that included a historic women’s recurve archery title and boxer Lovlina Borgohain’s gold on October 2. The final tally was reported after India’s men’s hockey team defeated Malaysia 5-1 in the final on October 3. Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and Kumkum Anil Mohod beat South Korea 5-3 in the women’s recurve team final, giving India its first Asian Games gold in the event. The victory followed a semifinal win over China. South Korea had been a dominant force in the discipline, and the Indian trio’s result marked a major achievement for the team. Borgohain defeated China’s Bao Ziyi 5-0 in the women’s 75-kilogram boxing final. She became the second Indian woman boxer to win Asian Games gold, following M.C. Mary Kom. Borgohain had won silver at the previous Games in Hangzhou. The October 2 results also included silver medals for India in the mixed and men’s recurve team events, and a bronze for Nethra Kumanan in women’s dinghy sailing. India’s medal position changed as events concluded during October 2. A report updated at 6:03 p.m.
