Kumkum Mohod won the women’s individual recurve gold at the 2026 Asian Games on October 3, defeating South Korea’s Oh Yejin in a one-arrow shoot-off after their final was tied 5-5. Mohod scored 10 in the decider while Oh scored 8, giving India its first Asian Games gold in the event, according to match reports. The final was settled after five sets. Oh took the first set, and the second was tied, giving her a 3-1 lead in set points. Mohod won the third set to level the match at 3-3, but Oh took the fourth and moved ahead 5-3. Facing defeat, Mohod won the fifth set to tie the match and force the shoot-off. The victory also came with an Olympic qualification consequence for India. Reports said Mohod’s run to the final secured one of the two women’s recurve quota places available to countries for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The quota belongs to India, rather than being an individual place assigned directly to Mohod. Mohod reached the final with a 6-2 semifinal victory over China’s Jingyi Zhu. She had beaten South Korea’s Kang Chaeyoung 6-4 in the quarterfinal, according to match accounts.
