Published 2 October 2026

Lovlina Borgohain won the women’s 75kg boxing gold at the 2026 Asian Games on October 2, defeating China’s Bao Ziyi by a 5-0 unanimous decision in the final. The victory came on Borgohain’s 29th birthday and gave her her first Asian Games gold, improving on the silver she won at the previous edition. Borgohain became only the second Indian woman to win Asian Games boxing gold, after Mary Kom. The result also ended a 12-year wait for an Indian women’s boxing gold at the Games, according to reports. Borgohain’s victory was India’s first boxing gold at the ongoing competition. The final was contested across three rounds. Bao pressed forward and tried to close the distance, while Borgohain used her reach and counterpunching to score and maintain space. Borgohain edged the opening round 3-2, then took the second 4-1, according to the reported round scoring. She remained composed in the final round as Bao continued to attack, and the judges awarded Borgohain the bout unanimously. One account reported that four judges scored the contest 29-28 and one scored it 30-27; detailed official scorecards were not included in the reports.
