DP World Tour Says LIV Players Must Choose From 2027

Published 12 October 2026

DP World Tour chief executive Guy Kinnings says golfers who join LIV Golf’s planned new iteration will be unable to hold DP World Tour membership from 2027, requiring players to choose between the circuits. Kinnings told BBC Sport that members must follow the Tour’s rules and regulations, adding that players unwilling to comply should not seek membership. The restriction was described in reports of his interview; the supplied material does not include a formal Tour rule or notice setting out its implementation. The policy would mark a tougher approach than the DP World Tour’s recent practice. Some golfers have held status on both tours, with the European circuit previously allowing players to compete in LIV events under conditional releases and, in other cases, fines or suspensions. The reported change would prevent players joining LIV’s next iteration from obtaining Tour membership in 2027. That could affect players’ prospects of representing Europe in the Ryder Cup, for which DP World Tour membership is relevant.
