Kooyonga seeks court deadline for LIV Golf's 2027 decision

Published 2 October 2026

Kooyonga Golf Club has asked a U.S. bankruptcy court to require LIV Golf to say by November 6 whether it will honor its agreement to stage LIV Golf Adelaide at the club in 2027, while also seeking protection for costs incurred as it waits. The club says it still wants to host the tournament, but its future remains unresolved as LIV restructures under Chapter 11. In a letter to members, Kooyonga said it filed a motion because the bankruptcy process could leave the club uncertain for too long about whether LIV will continue with the agreement. The club is seeking an answer on the tournament and coverage of projected expenses, including preparation costs and bookings it cannot accept while the course is reserved. The motion is a request for court action, not a final ruling on the contract. The court set October 22 for a ruling on the motion. Kooyonga had requested an October 7 hearing, while LIV reportedly sought a November 5 hearing. The club’s requested November 6 deadline for LIV to clarify its plans would fall after the scheduled ruling date. South Australian Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis said he hopes the event will proceed, but that it is looking unlikely.
