Furyk targets foursomes preparation for 2027 Ryder Cup
U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk says he will overhaul aspects of the team’s preparation, with a particular focus on foursomes, as the United States prepares to face Europe at Adare Manor in 2027. Furyk also hopes to bring a larger group of prospective players to the course next summer to familiarize them with the venue before the centenary match. Speaking at a joint captains’ press conference at Adare Manor on October 6, Furyk said the United States had not prepared well enough for alternate-shot foursomes and needed to improve its pairings. He said he planned to make changes and would ask his team to do more preparation than previous U.S. teams. The specific changes to pairings and foursomes practice have not yet been detailed. Furyk said he hoped to bring about 15 prospective players to Adare Manor next July to see the course, walk around the area and understand what preparation the venue would require. He described the proposed visit as acclimatization, not an audition for places on the team. The visit remains a plan, and the reports did not establish that it has been scheduled as a confirmed team event.
