Puig says he will not play in LIV’s proposed 2027 format

Published 10 October 2026

David Puig said he does not expect to play in LIV Golf’s proposed 2027 structure and hopes to take on a fuller schedule on the DP World Tour, while Bryson DeChambeau’s plans remain unconfirmed as the league prepares to restructure. Puig made the remarks to reporters Thursday at the Spanish Open. He said he had decided against playing in what has been called LIV 2.0 and wanted to return to a tour schedule he enjoys. His comments point to a move toward full-time DP World Tour membership, though the supplied reports do not establish that his membership change is complete. DeChambeau, one of LIV’s most prominent remaining players, has not publicly said whether he will join the proposed 2027 format. According to a report attributed to The Telegraph, his representatives contacted DP World Tour officials about possible tournament appearances next year. The report said he was not seeking full-time membership. That reported interest in European events does not confirm that he is leaving LIV. The same report said DeChambeau is set to play in the Nedbank Golf Challenge in December, which would be his first DP World Tour appearance in six years.
