Tony Romo disqualified after submitting incorrect golf scorecard

Published 9 October 2026

Tony Romo was disqualified from a Korn Ferry Tour prequalifying tournament after submitting a scorecard that recorded a lower score than he had made, tournament officials said. The error would not have changed the outcome: reports say his score was insufficient to advance even if the card had been correct. The disqualification came on October 2, the same day CBS Sports and Romo announced they had parted ways after his nine-year tenure as the network’s lead NFL analyst. Romo played the final round of a 54-hole prequalifier at The Club at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, seeking a place in the first stage of Korn Ferry Tour qualifying. Romo signed for a third-round 74. Playing partner Brandon Rice recalled that Romo made a five on the 16th hole but recorded a four on his card. Reports differ on the second hole involved: most identify the 17th, where a five was reportedly entered as a four, while one account cites holes 14 and 15. The hole-by-hole discrepancy has not been independently established by a scorecard in the available reporting.
