Citroën unveils electric 2CV concept for planned 2028 model
Citroën has unveiled an electric 2CV concept, previewing a production model the French carmaker says it plans to build in Europe and bring to showrooms in 2028. The company is targeting a starting price around or below €15,000, positioning the planned car as an affordable electric city vehicle. The concept was presented ahead of its public debut at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. It is a four-door hatchback measuring about 3.76 metres long, shorter than the original 2CV. Citroën says the compact dimensions are intended to make the car practical in cities and help control costs. The design revisits the original’s rounded profile, prominent wheel arches, separate round headlights and curved roof, while adding contemporary details. A fabric roof folds back, and the cabin uses a minimalist layout with physical controls and an eight-inch screen. The concept also includes removable storage and a door-pocket egg holder, a reference to the original car’s design brief, which called for carrying eggs over rough ground without breaking them. Citroën has not disclosed battery capacity, driving range, charging speed or power output for either the concept or the planned production car.
