Xbox reportedly gets GTA 6 streaming rights at launch

Published 7 October 2026

Microsoft has reportedly secured exclusive launch-window streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI on Xbox Cloud Gaming, a development that could give PC players a way to stream the game even though Rockstar has not announced a PC version. The arrangement has not been confirmed by Microsoft or Rockstar, and its terms remain unclear. The reported deal would make Xbox Cloud Gaming the only service permitted to stream GTA 6 when the game launches, according to an account citing people familiar with Microsoft's plans. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma was reported to have told employees that the company had something planned around the game that no other platform holder was doing. The details attributed to the arrangement, however, have not been publicly verified by either company. Rockstar has announced GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. It has not announced a PC release date. Because Xbox Cloud Gaming can stream games to PCs, the reported arrangement could provide PC users with a way to play at launch without owning one of the announced consoles.
