Warhorse cofounder hopes GTA 6 enables higher game prices

Published 2 October 2026

Warhorse Studios cofounder Martin Klíma hopes Grand Theft Auto 6 will help make higher prices for video games more acceptable across the industry, arguing that developers need more revenue as production costs rise. He says he does not plan to play the game, but sees Rockstar’s ability to make technologically ambitious titles as a reason it could lead a shift in pricing. Klíma, an executive producer on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, said he hopes GTA 6 will “blaze the trail” and give other studios room to increase what they charge. He described higher unit prices as a way to help sustain the business, while noting that developers are wary of being the first to raise prices. He said the economics of game development are becoming harder to support. In remarks reported from an interview, Klíma pointed to rising costs and a lack of new revenue streams, saying that making games is increasingly expensive while opportunities to earn more from each sale are limited. His assessment was that raising prices may be one of the remaining ways for studios to address that pressure. GTA 6 is priced at $79.99 for its base version and $99.
