Xbox plans Gen10 family of devices, Sharma tells staff

Published 7 October 2026

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma told employees that the company is developing its next-generation Xbox, known as Gen10, as a family of devices rather than a single product. She said the lineup will include a console first, while some products will be made by Xbox and others developed with partners. The remarks do not identify specific devices or set a timetable for further announcements. Sharma made the comments during an internal town hall, according to a transcript of the meeting. She said there is not one device suited to every player and noted that some players want to game while on the go. She added that Xbox would share more as its plans develop. The comments establish a broad direction for Gen10 but leave the form of the device family unclear. Sharma did not specify whether it will include handhelds, name any manufacturing or development partners, or explain how responsibilities will be divided. Her reference to players on the go does not confirm that Xbox is planning a new handheld. Sharma also said the operating system was starting to look good, without clarifying whether she meant software intended to work across multiple devices, a console interface or another product.
