WAEC Names Dangut Registrar and Kum Nigeria Office Head
The West African Examinations Council has appointed Amos Dangut as its Registrar and Chief Executive Officer and named Suleiman Kum to lead its Nigeria National Office, according to announcements by the council. The appointments place Dangut in a council-wide leadership role and Kum in charge of WAEC’s Nigeria office, which Dangut had previously headed. WAEC said Dangut assumed the Registrar role in October 2026, succeeding Pateh Bah of The Gambia. The council said he will serve until September 2031. It also said its International Governing Board ratified his appointment at its 74th Annual Meeting in Accra, Ghana, in March. Those details were provided in the council’s account of the appointments. Kum succeeds Dangut as Head of the Nigeria National Office. WAEC said Kum joined the council in July 1998 as an Assistant Registrar II and rose through its ranks. Before his appointment, he served in the office of the Head of the Nigeria National Office, according to the council’s announcement.
