Two women found dead outside Erie home after shooting

Published 10 October 2026

Erie police responded to reports of gunfire at a home on Perry Street on Friday evening, where officers found two women fatally shot outside. The suspected shooter was later found dead inside from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Police Chief Rick Lorah said. Authorities said there was no ongoing threat to the public. Officers were called to the 700 block of Perry Street shortly before 5 p.m. As they arrived, witnesses told police that a man had shot the women and gone into a nearby home, Lorah said. Police surrounded the residence, and the SWAT team was involved in the response. Officers later entered the property and found additional victims inside. Police have not publicly confirmed the total number of people killed or identified the victims. Local reporting put the toll at nine, including the suspected shooter, and said two children were among those found inside. The accounts attributed those details to local reporting; police had not confirmed the figures in the supplied reports. One account also reported that a victim was pregnant, but that detail had not been officially confirmed.
