Third Attack in Poland Injures Three in Warsaw
A third attack at an educational institution in Poland in less than a week injured three people in Warsaw on Saturday, as police reported detaining 76 people and checking nearly 50,000 schools nationwide to prevent further violence. Police said none of the three people injured in Saturday’s attack had life-threatening injuries. The 21-year-old woman accused of carrying it out did not know the victims, police spokesman Jakub Filipiak said. Police did not identify the institution, which they described as a higher-education establishment open on Saturdays. The latest incident followed two attacks in the Mazovian region earlier in the week. On Wednesday, a 19-year-old student at a vocational school injured nine people with a sharp object before fleeing and being arrested nearby, according to reports. The following day, a 15-year-old killed a custodian and wounded two other people in a knife attack at his former school. As fears spread, schools across Poland increased security on Friday. Fifty-nine schools suspended classes preemptively, most of them in the Mazovian region, where Warsaw is located.
