Nine Dead in Erie Shooting, Including Suspected Gunman

Published 10 October 2026

A shooting at a home in Erie, Pennsylvania, left eight victims and the suspected gunman dead, authorities said, bringing the total death toll to nine. Two children and a pregnant woman were among those killed. Police said there is no continuing threat to the public as investigators work to establish what led to the killings. The shooting occurred Friday, October 9, at a residence on Perry Street. Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah said the suspected gunman, 45, was related to seven of the victims; the eighth victim was a friend of the pregnant woman. Officials have not publicly identified those killed or the suspect. According to investigators’ account, video and audio evidence showed two women arriving at the residence shortly before 5 p.m. and knocking on the door. The gunman came outside and shot them, then went back into the home, Lorah said. Officers responding to an alert found the women dead outside and later found the other victims and the suspected gunman inside. The City of Erie said all nine deaths occurred before officers arrived and that no additional gunshots were fired afterward.
