Suspected ShinyHunters Member Detained in Jordan

Published 4 October 2026

Jordanian authorities detained Saif al-Din Khader, a suspected member of the ShinyHunters hacking group known online as Rey, and he is reportedly helping the FBI and other law-enforcement agencies identify or locate other hackers, according to people familiar with the matter. The FBI has not confirmed Khader’s arrest or his reported cooperation. Three people familiar with the case said Jordanian authorities detained Khader. Two said he was taken into custody Tuesday, September 29. The circumstances of the detention and Khader’s current whereabouts have not been disclosed. A Jordanian official said he was being questioned about ShinyHunters’ activities and possible associates, but officials have not made public the evidence behind the detention or said whether charges are contemplated. The reported assistance comes as the FBI investigates unauthorized activity involving its jobs portal, which the agency has said was allegedly connected to ShinyHunters. The group claimed it accessed the portal and stole personnel information. The FBI has not publicly confirmed the full volume or contents of any data taken. The bureau declined to comment on a specific arrest abroad.
