Texas woman charged after sons die from gunshot wounds

Published 4 October 2026

Colleen Nichole Lemmon has been charged with two counts of capital murder after her sons, ages 21 and 15, died from gunshot wounds at a home in Waxahachie, Texas, on October 1, Ellis County authorities said. The older son, Christopher Scott Pitre, was pronounced dead at the scene; his younger brother died later at a hospital. The 15-year-old’s identity has not been released. Deputies responded to a 911 call about an unknown emergency at a residence on Big Sky Drive shortly before 4:15 a.m., according to authorities. They found both boys with gunshot wounds and Lemmon, 42, injured at the home. The injuries to Lemmon were described as non-life-threatening, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment before being booked into jail. An arrest affidavit described Lemmon as covered in blood, with apparent cuts to her wrists and a handgun nearby. According to the affidavit, she told deputies, “I shot both my kids.” Authorities said evidence gathered during the investigation gave them probable cause to believe she shot both boys. The account of her statement and condition comes from the affidavit and law-enforcement reporting.
