Star Wars: Galactic Racer Blends Arcade Racing and Roguelite Runs

Published 9 October 2026

Star Wars: Galactic Racer pairs arcade-style racing with a roguelite campaign, using repeated races, branching event choices and vehicle upgrades to shape each run. Developers at Fuse Games say the design draws on their experience with arcade racers while aiming to make the Star Wars setting tangible through controls, speed and vehicle behavior. Matt Webster, Fuse Games’ chief executive, said the studio devotes substantial time and effort to what it calls game feel: how controls and a vehicle’s response communicate speed and help players feel immersed. He described the boost as more than a button that increases speed, saying the surrounding response is part of the interaction the team works to refine. The game combines racing with progression systems that let players choose events and collect upgrades. In a single-player campaign, players take the role of Shade, a rookie racer entering an unsanctioned league. A review of the campaign described runs through races on a branching event map, with temporary upgrades earned along the way and currency that can provide lasting car-stat boosts. Losing sends players back to the start of the league, according to that account.
