Solanke’s late header earns Tottenham 1-1 draw at United
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 at Old Trafford on October 10 after Dominic Solanke headed a stoppage-time equaliser, five minutes after Tottenham were reduced to 10 players. Bryan Mbeumo had put United ahead in the 73rd minute, but the hosts could not hold on for a win. Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was shown a straight red card in the 78th minute following a confrontation involving United defender Luke Shaw. The dismissal came shortly after Mbeumo finished a move created by Matheus Cunha to give United the lead. Despite playing a man down, Tottenham found their equaliser in added time. Solanke headed in a delivery from Sandro Tonali in the 92nd minute, securing a point for the visitors and denying United a home victory. Tottenham had threatened repeatedly before Mbeumo’s goal but failed to convert their earlier chances. One match account recorded seven first-half shots for Tottenham and one for United, with the teams level at halftime. The visitors continued to create opportunities after the break, while United improved and eventually moved in front.
