Solanke earns 10-man Tottenham a draw at Manchester United

Published 10 October 2026

Tottenham Hotspur earned a 1-1 draw at Manchester United on October 10 after Dominic Solanke equalised in stoppage time, rescuing a point for the visitors despite Rodrigo Bentancur’s dismissal. Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead in the second half, scoring in the 73rd minute. Bentancur was sent off after an incident involving Luke Shaw, leaving Tottenham with 10 players. Solanke headed in Sandro Tonali’s cross in the second minute of added time to level the match. The result extended Tottenham’s winless start to the Premier League season. The team remained in the relegation zone, although the point lifted it from the bottom of the table. United had five points from five league matches, a total described in match coverage as its joint-worst start to a Premier League campaign. Solanke’s equaliser came after he had missed earlier chances. In comments after the match, he said he should have scored a hat-trick and acknowledged that he had not been clinical. He also said Tottenham had dominated the first half but failed to make the most of its opportunities, and praised the team’s response after falling behind.
