SNL UK Sketch Imagines Royal Reunion at Sandringham
Saturday Night Live UK’s October 10 cold open depicted a tense fictional reunion between Prince William and Kate and Prince Harry and Meghan at Sandringham, arranged by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The sketch used the imagined meeting to make jokes about tensions between the brothers and the royal family, as well as allegations involving Andrew. Its scenes and dialogue were scripted comedy, not evidence of real conversations or events. In the sketch, Meghan, played by Ayoade Bamgboye, recalls a visit to Sandringham with Harry, played by Jack Shep. The pair trade jokes about a family member asking whether Meghan was related to Beyoncé. William, played by Freddie Meredith, and Kate, played by Annabel Marlow, then arrive. William calls Harry “Prince Ginger Pubes,” and Kate refers to Meghan as the woman from Suits. Harry responds that Meghan no longer appears on the series. The reunion is presented as the result of an invitation arranged by Andrew, played by George Fouracres. King Charles, played by Larry Dean, and Queen Camilla, played by Emma Sidi, also join the scene. When Charles addresses Andrew without the title “Prince,” Andrew objects.
