Report: Pritchard Agrees to $44.2 Million Celtics Extension

Published 13 October 2026

Payton Pritchard has agreed to a two-year, $44.2 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics, according to a report attributed to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The reported agreement includes a mutual option for the 2029-30 season. The Celtics and Pritchard have not directly confirmed the deal in the available information. The extension would secure the guard’s future with Boston after he developed from a reserve into a more prominent contributor. Pritchard was selected 26th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft and initially had to compete for minutes in the team’s rotation. His shooting and ability to take on different responsibilities helped him earn a larger role, the report said. Pritchard played off the bench during Boston’s 2023-24 championship season, when the Celtics won their 18th NBA title. He took on a greater role the following year, averaging 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 40.7% from three-point range. His performance earned him the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award for the 2024-25 season. His role expanded again in the 2025-26 regular season. Pritchard averaged 17.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.
