Tatum and Brown warm up separately before Celtics win

Published 11 October 2026

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown warmed up separately before Boston’s 144-106 preseason victory over Philadelphia on Saturday, with no acknowledgment visible in footage of the moments captured. The brief clip prompted discussion of the former Celtics teammates’ relationship, but it does not establish whether they interacted outside the camera’s view or indicate a personal feud. The game at TD Garden was the first time the former teammates faced each other as opponents. Brown, who joined Philadelphia after Boston traded him this offseason, took part in warmups but did not play. Tatum scored 23 points in 27 minutes as the Celtics won by 38 points. The footage showed the two players working out separately on the court, at times close to one another. Neither appeared to greet or otherwise acknowledge the other in the captured moments. Other people in the Celtics organization reportedly approached Brown during his warmup, and fans called out to him. The lack of a visible exchange drew attention because the players had spent years together in Boston, helping the Celtics win the 2024 NBA championship. Their split followed the trade that sent Brown to Philadelphia.
