Juszczyk’s Knee Injury Awaits MRI Confirmation

Published 5 October 2026

San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos after injuring his knee on a fourth-quarter tackle, and initial tests indicated a possible hyperextension. The diagnosis and expected recovery time remain uncertain pending an MRI planned for Monday, October 5. Juszczyk stayed on the field after the play and was helped to the sideline by trainers. The 49ers later confirmed he would not return for the rest of the game. The injury came after he caught a pass against Denver; reports described him as slow to get up following the tackle. Adam Schefter reported that initial tests showed a hyperextended knee and that Juszczyk could miss a couple of weeks. The MRI was expected to confirm whether that preliminary assessment was accurate. No MRI result or confirmed recovery timetable was available in the reports. After the game, coach Kyle Shanahan said the team thought Juszczyk probably had a knee sprain and that the ACL appeared intact, while stressing that further testing was needed. Shanahan’s comments were a preliminary assessment, not a confirmed diagnosis. The injury occurred during the 49ers’ game against Denver on October 4.
